Benefits of Solar Energy
Consider a basic
solar energy diagram to be made up of the
following: solar panels, connected to charge
control which is in turn connected to a fuse,
a battery, an inverter and finally, to AC
or Alternating Current loads. This is the

diagram which is a cost-effective means of
providing an alternative source of energy.

The complete standalone solar energy system
is also built with solar panels, but the difference
is that there is a charge control and batteries
which can be linked to DC or direct current
and AC loads. At least twenty solar panels
are required for this type of solar energy
diagram to run efficiently. Finally, the hybrid
type is a combination of a solar electric
system and a generator. When there is insufficient
solar power, the generator acts as a backup
to bridge the gap between the remaining solar
power stored and the power produced by the
gasoline, diesel or propane-operated generator.
Now that you have a basic idea of the different
types of solar energy systems, here’s
a brief overview of how it works. Once the
photons from sunlight are beamed down to earth,
the rays are captured by the solar panels.
When this happens, free electrons are formed
in the solar cell. These electrons are literally
knocked off their orbits, which in turn allow
them to pick up current. Then, depending on
the material of the solar energy system used,
the energy captured is converted into electrical
energy. Finally, the output is transmitted
to various locations or AC/DC outlets.
No matter how simple or complicated your solar
energy system is, the important thing is that
you are utilizing a renewable energy source
which is coming from the sun. Based from the
aforementioned types of solar energy systems,
you will see that they can be used for a host
of different applications. Solar energy produced
from any of these types of solar energy systems
can be used to power up homes, or to charge
solar cells or batteries. In residential areas,
solar energy is used for lighting, water heating
and pool heating purposes. Another good thing
about solar energy systems is that they are
environmentally friendly, does not contribute
to pollution and are extremely cost effective
after the basic solar energy system has been
installed.
